PDS Warned Storms!

Tonight the central Arkansas area was issued a PDS Warned Storm by the Storm Prediction Center. This is a very serious situation. PDS stands for 'Particualarly Dangerous Situation'. There is a very good probability for long lived super cells and strong tornados. I cehcked the Wind Shear and CAPE about 10 minutes ago and I am seeing very favorable conditons for these supercells to form. Hail is predicted to be 2.5 in + and 80mph winds.

*This Watch is under effect until 10:00 P.M. Central Time*

If you are located in this area please stay tuned with the weather channel or the National Weather Service. You can listen to Noaa Weather Radio for your local UP-TO-DATE conditons.

*Please do take this very seriously as these storms are life threatning*

Severe Weather Friday/Sat/Sun

This Thursday an upper-level trough will enter the southwest and should bring some possibly severe thunderstorms to the mid-southwest. The 850mb GFS RH model shows a dry line the cutting down the middle of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Strong wind-shear will be located primarily on the south-central Oklahoma/Texas border. This field of wind shear will be located on the dry line giving making it a High Risk area. Super cells are possible as the wind shear is going to be between 30-40kt giving the updrafts extreme rotation. As for chasing, I would stay around the Central Oklahoma region to give these storms some time to mature. This line of storms should start engaging the mid-southwest area around Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning. Warm Gulf moisture is also going to be pumped into this system, so it should generate severe weather relatively fast.

Severe weather might also stretch into the weekend.

(I am an Amateur “Soon to be” Meteorologist) – So all professional advice should not be taken as strictly or seriously because I am still learning how to precisely predict severe weather. I will keep everyone updated often as this trough approaches closer to the event.

Comments on how good or bad I am on predicting would be nice. And any helpful tips or information I should know or corrections would be awesome!

Have a nice day!

Back up and Stronger then ever!

Well, as you can tell, this has been my first post in quite a while. Don't worry, I re-editied the blog so its more interactive then ever! I will try to update a frequent as I can, considering the fact that the weather is always changing.

If you wander around my blog, you will see that I have added tabs so you can view your local weather, models, radar imagery, and you can even ask me some of those curious weather questions that you might have.

As far as the forecast goes, we should have a pretty calm week across the nation due to the high pressure systems entering the country. Expect a nasty start for the week in the northeast and possibly some thunderstomrs in the northwest. Nothing to worried about for a bit, although we did have a very busy weekend with dozens of confirmed tornado. Yazoo City, MS was struck with a 3/4 mile wide tornado completely obliviating the small town.

Expect some isolated thunderstorms across the southeast this tues/wed
